Could have been. Recently two men drowned off the shores of NFLD in a boat they were in with no life vest on. The water I might add is still very cold here. Can't be more than 9 degrees Celsius. These guys in the above photo were in trouble waving a pole today in Bay Bulls, with an orange oil skin on it. Very close to shore but apparantly their prop became snarlled with twine and their motor had stopped. No VHF, No PFD's, No phone, WOW! Two fishermen with no means to get to or communicate to shore. Eventually a boat did come to help them but after an unsuccessful attempt to hail anyone local on my VHF I was aboat to call coast gaurd when we saw someone coming to lend a hand.
