Although this web is far from dry, you can see the out of focus beads of water on it. There were four of these hanging on my clothes line but it was impossible, at least for me, to capture them all with any degree of clarity under the lighting at the time. This one is slightly being blown by the wind.

"Portugal Cove"

Potugal Cove is one of my favorite spots in NFLD as it has so much charm. This is early morning on Sept. 22nd, 2007. It was cool at this point but 2 hrs into our paddle we were looking at temps into the twentys. What a wonderful day to be alive.

It's not bad at all being an "Islander" of Newfoundland if you can handle the serenity that goes along with it. I know a great group who can. Kayaking in NFLD is always a great experience, such was our Belle Island trip.

"Part of the Spirit......That Is Harbour Grace"

I had a fun paddle in Harbour Grace today, Sat. Sept. 8th, 2007. This character community has numerous attractions to pass the paddle away. From a grounded coastal airplane, to a grounded boat wreck and busy boat traffic, coastal geology, wild horses, rocky shoals and sparkling waters in between.

"The Kyle"

The Kyle is a grounded wreck in Harbour Grace and is very interesting to paddle around just to see how small you really can be on the water.
I had to get a bow-to-bow shot to get the feeling of what it would be like to have a ship of this size bearing down on you say ....thru the fog....or just other wise. The bow wake alone I'm sure would make for some interesting waters.

"Paperrazzi Paddle"

The sun was very intense for the whole of this paddle and the sun reflecting of the water looked like a thousand camera flashes firing at any given moment. It sure made the waters sparkle and the eyes squint. It was like seeing stars everywhere, the illuminous kind anyhow.

"Stern Rudder"

Harbour Grace was busy this Saturday Sept.8th, 2007. There were sailboats, seadoo's, factory ships, and this boat in the distance which looks like a stern trawler, but isn't. I think it was some sort of supply vessel. Was having a munch at this point of the paddle at Feather Point.

Feather Point offered some interesting rock geology tempered and weathered by time and waves no doubt.

"Horse Ahoy!"

I was surprised to see that Harbour Grace had lots to offer in terms of keeping you busy while paddling including the horses that run free at Feather Point and Haypook.

"A Fog Wrap"

It is too cool to see how the fog slowly encapsulates the land when the air is very warm and humid and the wind is mild. This is on the East Coast Trail on the way to North Head Point, St. John's , NL. Aug.18th ,2007. Mind Cleansing.

" Fog Hugging"

The fog was spectacular on the hike to North Head just 5 km from Cape Spear. There were spectacular landscapes as the fog rolled in and out during the whole walk, some of the scenery was very captivating and it was neat watching it change within seconds.

"Lookout"

I believe Riley was as captivated by the scenery on this hike as I was. Just Riley and I went on the hike from Cape Spear to North Head, which is about 9 km return. We had a snack at the North Head Point and watched waves crash aginst the rocks and the seas were pretty heavy.

"My Son and I"

Middle Cove on Aug.10th 2007. The swell was heavy and high. When a wave crashed at your feet the rocks really hurt your bare ankles in the sandles. He said he liked the sound of the rocks rolling back after a wave washed up on them. I do too.

"Bell Tickle"

This Bell Island Ferry tickles the Tickle everyday and is one of the ways, to reach Bell Island. Took my son on the mine tour there and he and his girl friend thoroughly enjoyed it.

"Nose Dive"

This was a steep launching pad at a cove in Witless Bay. Although the picture does not accentuate the angle of the beach well it sure was perfect for a seal launch and a bit of a rush as the kayak buried in the water right up to the cockpit combing before it resurfaced. I figured the kayak would submerge like that. Cool!
