"The Narrows In Newfoundland"

Early this morning driving thru down town St. John's NL I came upon this spectacular sunrise at the entrance to The NArrows of St. John's, yet the beginnings of another winter day. Only about -5 Celsius but a nice morning to be out and about. Jan 14th, 2008.

Stan, you have captured a moment indeed. where was this taken from? Im particularly worried that another significant public view (from duckworth street across from fairmont hotel) will be lost with the building of huge condo development. hard to believe that city councillors cannot see - what makes st. john's worth visiting & living in is its intrinsic beauty and different-ness from other cities like, ugh, halifax or vancouver. we still have public viewscapes. just.

Thanks Alison, I have another shot of this which I think may be better, but they were taken from the parking lot at KFC on Duckworth. Was driving by saw the sunrise and p8ulled in and took the shot.

And yes Alison we are lucky to have such a view of the harbour front especially on your end of the harbor entrance, now if we could only get rid of the Scotia and Montreal buildings downtown.....
